This equipment is designed for the automated hot-staking (heat riveting) of plastic components — a joining process in which a thermoplastic stud, boss, or pin is heated to a workable temperature and then formed into a rivet-like head that mechanically locks two or more parts together without additional fasteners, glue, or ultrasonic welding. It is widely used to fix metal inserts, foam pads, small brackets, non-woven fabric layers, or dissimilar plastic components onto a base part in medical devices, automotive interior trim, electronics housings, and general plastic assemblies.
The machine integrates a temperature-controlled heating head, a pneumatic or servo-driven pressing mechanism, and a positioning fixture, so heating time, forming pressure, and cooling dwell can be independently set and stored as recipes for different products. Multiple heating tips can be mounted on a single working head to complete several rivet points in one cycle, improving throughput compared with a manual soldering-iron style hot-staking process. Because the heating element only contacts the plastic boss and not the surrounding part surface, the process leaves a clean, consistent rivet head with minimal flash or stringing, and avoids the whitening or stress-cracking that can occur with ultrasonic staking on some materials.
