Positioned as the sealing stage of the medical blister packaging process, this machine heat-seals a Tyvek or medical-grade paper lid onto the formed plastic blister tray to create the sterile barrier package used for surgical instruments, implants, catheters, syringes and other single-use medical devices. The seal must be strong enough to withstand shipping and handling yet designed to peel open cleanly without tearing or leaving fibers, since Tyvek/paper-to-plastic peelable seals are a defining feature of medical sterile packaging.
The sealing head uses closely controlled temperature, dwell time and pressure across the whole seal perimeter, keeping the seal strength inside the narrow window required for sterile packaging validation — strong enough to guarantee a sterile barrier, but consistent enough to open with the light, controlled peel clinical staff expect in an operating room. Sensors and parameter storage help the equipment repeat validated seal recipes precisely for each product, which matters when packaging is part of a validated, regulated process.
The machine can run as a standalone sealing station fed by trays formed on a separate forming machine, or paired directly with a blister forming machine to build a continuous forming-and-sealing line. Features commonly include adjustable sealing dies for different tray shapes, date/batch coding integration, and reject detection for incomplete seals, helping manufacturers maintain packaging quality while meeting the throughput needs of medical device production.
