This equipment forms the rigid blister cavity — the transparent plastic tray that holds and protects a medical device or instrument — as the first stage of a medical blister packaging line. Using a heated mold and vacuum or pressure forming, sheets of medical-grade PETG, PVC or similar thermoplastic film are shaped into cavities that precisely match the geometry of syringes, surgical instruments, catheters, implants, or other sterile medical products.
Consistent cavity dimensions matter for downstream sealing and for holding the product securely during shipping and shelf storage, so the forming station is built around accurate temperature control across the heating plate and a stable clamping/vacuum system that produces uniform wall thickness with no thin spots or pinholes. Mold change-over is designed to be straightforward, allowing the same base machine to produce different tray shapes for different products or product families, which is useful for contract packagers and medical device makers running multiple SKUs.
The equipment is normally positioned upstream of a blister sealing (Tyvek/paper lid sealing) station, and its cycle time, mold heating zones and forming pressure can be tuned to different film materials and thicknesses. Its stable, repeatable forming performance provides a clean, defect-free cavity foundation for the whole sterile packaging process, which ultimately affects the seal integrity and shelf life of the finished sterile barrier package.
